Your data

No account, no advertising, cookie-free audience measurement. The only part of the site that records anything is the online consultation, closed today; the contact form passes on your message without keeping it.

This is a translation. The version française is the reference text: in the event of any discrepancy, the French version prevails.

When you browse the site

  • No cookies, no social media buttons, no advertising.
  • Cookie-free audience measurement (Vercel Web Analytics, at our host): pages viewed, referring page, country, type of device and browser, as totals. No cookie is set and nothing is read on your device; a visitor is recognised only for one day, by a fingerprint calculated from their request, which is not kept beyond that. It is used only to know which pages are read, never to follow you from one site to another.
  • No call to a third-party service to display the pages: fonts are served by the site itself. Links to sources load nothing until you open them. The only exceptions are the anti-bot check on pages with a form (contact, consultation), described below.
  • The video thumbnails on the home page (« Dernières vidéos des candidats », the candidates’ latest videos) are retrieved from YouTube by the site, then served from our own domain: no data is passed to YouTube until you click. A click opens the video on YouTube, in a new tab, and is then subject to Google’s privacy policy.
  • The host, Vercel Inc., like any host, receives the technical data of each request (IP address, browser, page requested) in order to serve the pages and protect the service. It processes them in accordance with its privacy policy. We add no tracking tool.

The online consultation

It is closed today: nothing is recorded. Here is what it will do when it opens. Your answers reveal a political opinion, which is so-called sensitive data (Article 9 of the General Data Protection Regulation, GDPR). They are therefore recorded only with your explicit consent: unless the box is ticked, the form is not sent.

What is recorded

  • Your answers: first-round voting intention, certainty, main reason, choice in the second-round scenarios.
  • If you give them (everything is optional): age group, gender, département, situation, vote in the first round of 2022. No free text.
  • The date, without the time.

What is not recorded

  • No name, no email address, no account.
  • Not your IP address. For the duration of the request, it is used to calculate a fingerprint: a value computed with a secret key specific to the consultation (HMAC-SHA-256), from the IPv4 address or the /64 prefix of an IPv6 address. Only this fingerprint is kept, in a table separate from your answers, to refuse a second vote from the same connection. Consequence: behind the same internet box, only the first vote counts.
  • Neither the consent box nor the anti-bot check token.

Anonymisation in batches

Your answer first waits in a queue. It is added to the results together with at least 24 others, all at once and in shuffled order. Once added, it can no longer be linked to the fingerprint of your connection. While it waits in the queue, that link remains technically possible for whoever administers the database: we say so rather than keep quiet about it.

A single cookie, and only if you answer

After sending, your browser receives a technical cookie (__Host-consultation_edit): a random token, with no identity, which lets you change your answer. It expires when the consultation closes. The database keeps only a fingerprint of it. This cookie serves only the service you requested: it does not require separate consent.

Service providers

  • Anti-bot: Cloudflare Turnstile, loaded on the consultation page only, when it is open. Cloudflare receives your IP address and technical signals from the browser for this check. The same check protects the contact form.
  • Database: Supabase. Its hosting region will be stated here before opening. The database can be accessed only by the site’s server, never directly from your browser.

Publication of results

Only totals are published, with no cross-tabulation by age, gender or département. Nothing is published below a minimum number of answers, nor on the day before and the day of the vote.

Retention period

  • Connection fingerprints: until closing. At closing, the queue is added to the results, the fingerprints are erased and the secret key is destroyed.
  • Answers added to the results, now anonymous: the period will be set and published here before opening.

When you write to us

The contact form sends your message by email to the editors. Nothing is recorded on the site itself.

  • What is sent: the subject chosen, your message, the page concerned if there is one and, if you give them, who you are (name or position), the address to reply to you and your agreement to the publication of a challenge. Neither your IP address nor any other technical data is added to the email.
  • Anti-bot: before sending, Cloudflare Turnstile checks that you are not a robot; for this, Cloudflare receives your IP address and technical signals from the browser, without any advertising cookie.
  • Delivery: the email is sent through Resend (Resend, Inc., United States), an email delivery provider, which processes it on behalf of the publisher and keeps a record of it (recipient, subject, content) for 30 days, the period stated in its plan, in accordance with its privacy policy.
  • Why: to answer your request, to correct the site, to publish a right of reply if you agree (the publisher’s legitimate interest in keeping the site accurate, and your request itself).
  • For how long: one year after the last exchange. A published correction remains in the errata, and a published right of reply remains on the page, without your address.

Your rights

You may withdraw your consent, and request access to your data, its rectification or its erasure, through the contact form (subject “Personal data”). Until closing, the edit cookie also lets you change your answer from the same browser.

One limitation, which follows from anonymity: once added to the results, your answer can no longer be found, either by you or by us. We can therefore neither show it to you nor erase it (Article 11 of the GDPR).

If you consider that your rights are not being respected, you may lodge a complaint with the Commission nationale de l’informatique et des libertés (CNIL, the French data protection authority): cnil.fr/fr/plaintes.

Data controller

The publisher of the site (see the legal notice), who can be reached through the contact form. Their identity will be stated on this page before the consultation opens, as required by Article 13 of the GDPR.
